Announcements
We have a new addition to our family.

"Hello, I'd like to introduce ...

myself. I'm Sakura. I'm 1.5 years old. Very nice to meet you."

No, you aren't seeing double. You are actually seeing two dogs.

Well, this was oh so unplanned.

We got a phone call late Sunday night on May 18 from a friend of ours who is a Kerry Blue's breeder. He's been helping me to groom Louie to become Kerry-like from his previous sorry Shunauzer-Poodle like existence.

On the phone he suddenly announced that he could no longer groom Louie as he's been doing once a month because he has a herniated intervertebral disk and his condition suddenly worsened to the point that he can't bend his body for a prolonged period of time even for a few minutes.

Not only that, he's decided to give up breeding altogether because he felt he's no longer physically capable of doing so all by himself. This is after being involved in the Kerry world for 23 years!

And not only that, he said he was thinking about letting go the two Kerries (boy and girl) he had if the homes he had in mind for each of them agreed to take them in. And yes, you guessed it, one of those homes was us.

Sakura (meaning "Cherry Blossoms") is a beautiful girl with wonderful temperament. She came from Sweden one year ago to lead the next generation of this breeder's breeding program. She's a true gem of good breeding; she has top-notch conformation and she is made-of-all-sugar-and-nice-things sweet. Honestly, she's the kind of a girl that we might never get to meet in our lifetime. How could we say "no"?

One of the biggest reasons why he chose us, so he said, was that he knew we wouldn't breed her. She was a chosen girl for his line, and many Japanese Kerry fanciers would love to get their hands on her. Surely Sakura would make great contributions to the enhancement of the Kerry gene pool in Japan, which sadly is really too small, but he was more afraid of her being exploited commercially. That is why he's decided to give her up totally as a pet. How could we turn our backs to his trust?

So Sakura came to become part of our family on May 21.

You can tell that she's already well-adjusted and happy, right?

So, we now have 4 official four-legged members in our family, and none of them is an Airedale. Funny what life brings you... .

Also, by the way, we are moving to London, too, by the end of this year.

Hence the title, plural "announcements."
