Uniquely Asian
There's a service in Japan that seems rather unique in Asia. It's called eyelash perm. The idea is the same with hair; the perm keeps your eyelashes curled for an extended period of time (about a month).

Your eyelashes get curled around a special rod placed on your eyelid. Then they coat the eyelashes with perm solution (I'm sure very diluted) and let 'em sit for about half an hour. The process could feel a little awkward as you occasionally feel little tugs and pinches as well as little tingles with the solution, but it's not painful at all.

The whole process takes about 45 minutes, and voila, you have mascara-ready eyes for several weeks.

*The photos are taken from internet.*

I don't know why this isn't popular in the US or it even exists. True, some ethnicities have innately well-defined eyes, but a lot of women use an eyelash curler anyway. This sounds like a ridiculous service, is that it?

I actually used to think so when I first heard of this. I thought it goes in the line with something like eyeline tatoos. When you really think about it, though, the eyelash perm is no different from getting your hair permed. It's only temporary! Well, it doesn't seem so strange to me anymore is what I'm sayin' here. Is this a sign of me becoming more and more Japanese?

Waterside Dogs
Our Airedale Friends TJ and Lani invited us to an (mostly) Airedale fun day by the river.

Since it wouldn't be as much fun to go to a dog event without a dog, we borrowed our friend's black lab Ellie again. We don't have any friends who'd let us borrow their Airedales (shucks), but since Ellie is such an easy dog and makes no trouble, we actually couldn't hope for a better dog guest. Our cat Tobey adores her, too.

Ellie being a black lab of course swims around like a seal. The Airedale that's swimming with Ellie is TJ, who was the ONLY swimmer out of 6 Airedale participants that day.

This is Miss Ivy. The last time the two of them met was when Miss Ivy was only 3 1/2 months old.

It was Miss Ivy's debut in water, and at first she wasn't impressed at all; she froze when she stepped in the water and was too fearful to walk any further. By the end of the day, though, as you can see, she made lots of progresses. Although she couldn't swim (she actually sank), she became comfortable enough to play with Ellie in the water like this. It's so exciting to watch a puppy experiencing her firsts.

Here we are: 12 canine HRHs and their 18 servants (minus camera people). There were 6 Airedales, 2 Welshes, 1 Yorkie, 1 Golden, 1 Black Lab, and 1 miniature Poodle. No fight broke out among dogs or people . Everyone just got along famously.

If Teddy were there, she would've showed everyone that she was a Waterside Terrier.
