Bear Necessities of LifeMusings of Teddy Bear Necessity's Household
to Whom It May Concern A Great Journey

Our personal belongings were shipped from Japan in a 40 ft. container much like this one (image found on the internet). After traveling like this (image found on the internet) for 2 months, it has finally arrived at our new home in London. At first the placed looked like this. With due diligence, provided by my mother who has traveled all the way from Japan to help out with this physical labor as evidenced here, and the occasional help provided by the OTHER helper as evidenced here, the place slowly took a shape of civilized living, now enough to feel like home for our beast to welcome guests with vigor. (Louie the relentless beast can't get enough loving'.) There is a saying in Japanese, "We are so busy, we can even use help from cats, " meaning that any help would be grand in busy times. Alas, that just doesn't happen in real life. At any rate, it feels good to have our stuff back! Different Interests

Tobey is intrigued by the box (as cats always are) and Sakura is intrigued by the cat in action (as dogs always are). (The box is actually empty, so Tobey would've fallen down the crevice if he had actually jumped on it. I had the camera ready to capture the drama, but no luck.) Slow Days

Our favorite park in London is Kensington Gardens.
It's a very big, open, and flat park where dogs can roam freely any time of the day. I've been a big off-leash advocate for so long that the fact that I do not have to keep looking back over my shoulder for the fear of getting yelled at or cited is just heavenly for me. I can finally put down my shield and enjoy the walks. Ahhh. We do put our dogs on-leash near the road or in a potential hairy situation, but many many London dogs are totally off-leash. It's amazing. Our Kerries (particularly the rascal girl Sakura) have many things to learn yet. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk to/from Kensington Gardens, so sometimes we take the bus home. Dogs are only allowed at the driver's discretion, so we *have* been turned down, however. Mostly, we just walk back so that we can stop by our favorite deli "Ottolenghi" to pick up brunch. Ottolenghi's food is fresh, innovative, yet simple. We love it. Their beautiful display is too alluring to pass by, too. Then we take a scenic route through Holland Park to go home, where we can encounter peacocks running across in front of us. These magnificent creatures roam around the park freely. Just gorgeous! For some strange reasons, the Kerries do not show much interest in the peacocks. You'd think their size alone is not only noticeable but appealing, but what I think is that they are too busy looking for squirrels here. Furry ones, not feathery ones, are still the terrier favorite. These walks take a long time but are getting nicer and nicer as the spring is right around the corner. |
