Bear Necessities of LifeMusings of Teddy Bear Necessity's Household
to Whom It May Concern Waiting for Godot
2011.02.23 (Wed)
Sakura is waiting tirelessly for someone.
Her kitty, Tobey, that is.
The outside-loving inside-cat started to hang out on the terrace again lately now that it is not that cold during the day anymore. Sakura still waits patiently to greet him back. Unfortunately for Tobey, in Sakura's language it is the same as pouncing on the cat.
Graves at V&A

Victoria & Albert Museum is "the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design" (Wikipedia), established at the height of the Industrial Revolution as educational resources to boost productive industry.
The collection is massive, with over 400 objects on display, representing 5000 years of history from all over the world, but did you know that they also house two graves on site? In the corner of the John Madejski Garden, you can find two discreet plaques. On closer inspection, they say, Two dogs of Sir Henry Cole, the first director of the museum, are buried in the garden! Jim (whose breed is unknown) apparently was always seen by his master's side throughout the museum, and so when he died at the age of 15, he was buried there. The second dog, Tycho, also had the same treatment. A little thing like this that shows the Brits' love of dogs just makes me smile. Wet 'n Wild

A serious brother chasing a bratty sister. It's obvious who's got the power. Happy New Year

2011 Happy New Year! (although it is already time of Chinese New Year.) It is the year of rabbits in Chinese zodiac. People born in the year of rabbits are gentle and affable, destined to be loved by many. In Vietnam and Tibet, the year of rabbits apparently is the year of cats. The order of zodiac is the order in which animals won the race when they were summoned by the gods. In most Asian countries, there is no cat in the zodiac because they were supposed to have overslept on someone's laps. Apparently they woke up in Vietnam and Tibet. The bunnies came in the 4th place. "What about dogs?" asked Louie. The dogs came in the 11th place, second to last, Louie was told. He was rather disappointed. It must have been a hound, Louie. Spritely terriers would have come earlier ... or come to think of it maybe last because they would have found something else to do in the middle of the race. |
